We check the language, the paperwork habits, and gather feedback from expats who hired them before. We do not employ these providers, and we cannot promise the outcome of any job.
Why we exist
Moving to a new country is hard enough without miming "circuit breaker" to a stranger.
Most listings you find searching in Romanian lead to a phone call you can't quite follow, a quote you can't verify, and an invoice that never arrives. We built a shorter path. Every listing on Xepoka Vazajo tells you plainly how the provider communicates, what documents they issue, and what previous expat clients said about working with them. Nothing here is guesswork dressed up as certainty.
The directory covers Bucharest's six sectors along with Ilfov towns such as Otopeni, Voluntari, Pipera and Chiajna, where a large share of relocating professionals end up renting or buying. We keep the geography tight on purpose. A wider net sounds impressive but travels poorly when a pipe is actively leaking.

How it works
From a broken lock to a signed invoice, in four unhurried steps.
Describe the situation
Tell us what's happening and where. A stuck lock, a leaking valve, a wardrobe still in flat boxes. Category and neighborhood are usually enough to narrow the list.
Compare vetted profiles
Each listing shows the provider's spoken English level, invoicing habits, service radius, and notes left by expats who hired them for a similar job.
Contact them directly
You reach out and agree on price, timing and scope with the provider yourself. We introduce; we don't negotiate on your behalf.
Get it done, on paper
Work is completed and, if the provider is registered to do so, a proper invoice is issued for your records or accountant.
Afterward, you're invited to leave a short note for the next expat searching the same category.

Language screening
Before a profile is published, someone on our side has a real conversation with the provider in English, about actual trade situations, not scripted small talk.
Invoicing check
We confirm whether a provider can issue a legally valid Romanian invoice (factura), since many expats need this for accounting, reimbursement or visa paperwork.
Client feedback
Reviews come only from expats who booked a listed provider through us. There's no star inflation contest, just short honest accounts of what happened.
Periodic re-checks
Listings are revisited on a rolling basis. Providers who stop responding in English or stop issuing invoices are flagged and, if needed, removed.
None of this amounts to a guarantee. It's a starting point built on visible criteria.

Wiring, outlets, boilers and leaks
Electricians and plumbers make up the largest share of first-month requests. Old apartment buildings in central Bucharest often have wiring and plumbing that predates current codes, so a provider who can explain what they found, and why it matters, saves everyone a headache.

Getting back in, and staying that way
Rekeying a rental after move-in is one of the most common requests from newly arrived tenants, closely followed by the classic locked-out-at-midnight call. Providers listed here can talk you through cylinder types and pricing before they arrive, not after.

Response-time notes are shown per listing, since this is rarely a category you can plan ahead for.
A clean start, and ongoing upkeep
Move-in and move-out cleaning are the two moments almost every expat books a cleaning service. Some listings also cover recurring weekly or biweekly visits, deep cleaning after renovation dust, and post-construction cleanup.

Furniture assembly requests spike right after a move, particularly with wardrobes and bed frames that arrive as a stack of panels and a bag of unlabeled screws. Handymen in this category also cover smaller fixes that don't fit neatly elsewhere.

Coverage concentrates around Bucharest and the parts of Ilfov County where relocating professionals most often settle. If a provider's radius doesn't stretch to your address, the listing usually says so upfront.
